Delivering

3663 driverAt 3663 we deliver well presented products at the correct temperature to our customers, equip our drivers with the best vehicles and think of the environment by using quiet, pollution reducing electric powered refrigeration units.

Our equipment has to be up to the job to handle punishing multi drop deliveries and maintain freezer temperatures down to -40c even with regular door openings.

Vehicles

We buy 3.5 ton, 7.5 ton, 14 ton, and 18 ton refrigerated rigid vehicles. The chassis types we specify are DAF, MAN and SCANIA with Mercedes Sprinters for our 3.5 ton 'panic' vans. Our trailer fleet consists of 10m single axle and 13. 6m tri-axle artics. We have a very low mileage fleet, and depending on the vehicles' use and condition, we keep them for around 8 years.

Temperature control

Our refrigeration systems deliver outstanding performance, eliminating product rejection due to poor temperature control.  All our refrigerated bodies are to ATP class C specification and constructed to a very high standard to withstand the punishment of multi-drop delivery. A well-insulated body minimises heat flow and reduces energy consumption.

Our latest dual temperature bodies are fitted with special insulated dividing partitions manufactured by Brandt in Germany. As well as providing a good thermal barrier between temperature zones these partitions can be moved in sections to alter the size of our vehicle's lane compartments. This flexibility enables the depot to alter vehicles to suit our customer demands.

During recent years 3663 have standardised on electric FRIGOBLOCK transport refrigeration units for all except the 3.5 ton application. The latest multi-temperature FRIGOBLOCK FK25 and RE remote evaporators are the most powerful machines on the market. Box temperatures down to -40c are possible and temperature recovery after door openings is within minutes. FRIGOBLOCK are powered by the fuel efficient Euro3 truck engine, eliminating the need for small inefficient and noisy diesel engines.

For chilled products these units also offer the highest heating capacities. With this system 3663 can operate at temperatures between -40c and +20c in any compartment at any time.

Don't panic - we're on our way!

When a fast food restaurant runs out of burgers, we use a 'service recovery vehicle' (panic van) to get more supplies to them fast. Our drivers spring into action with 3.5 ton Mercedes Sprinters fitted with quiet Thermo King direct drive refrigeration units.

Choosing equipment

3663 Fleet support carries out tests on delivery rounds to obtain real life data and product temperatures throughout the whole cold chain. With full knowledge of the operational requirements we can specify the right design for our vehicles, bodies and fridge systems.
